Tuggie’s Corner

I’ll begin with the picture and a little back story that started it all. Picture it, Sicily 1922…wait, wrong flashback.... It was June of 2018, we had just lost our beloved Shaggy the month before and my father was in the middle of a cancer fight that he unfortunately lost that August. Our daughter had just gotten married and I, along with my mother, aunt, son, sister and her boyfriend (now husband), accompanied the lovely couple on their honeymoon cruise. What every daughter dreams of, am I right?

While sitting on the beach in Mexico, I was scrolling through my phone and I came upon the post from our local humane society. The puppies that had been abandoned, along with their mother, were up for adoption and looking for furever homes. My heart stopped when I came to Tugg’s picture. You see, I was still grieving Shaggy and Shaggy had a very unique feature. His tongue hung out of the side of his mouth. I frantically filled out the adoption application online and had replied to the post that I was currently in Mexico, but would be home soon and would love to give Tugg a furever home. Unbeknownst to me, their adoption webpage was having issues and the application did not go through. I hadn’t heard anything and just figured that my application was denied because I was out of the country and someone got to him before me.

Fast forward to a week later. My son’s friend, who volunteers at the local shelter, messaged me that the puppy was still available and asked if I was still interested in adopting him. I was so happy that I could barely reply, “YES!”. My husband and I were on a little kayaking outing and I filled out the paperwork on the way home. This time, my application went through!! I asked my husband if we could get a puppy……after I had hit submit and it was approved. It’s better to ask for forgiveness than permission, right?

My wonderful daughter paid the adoption fee and we all went to pick him up the next day. Tuggie has been with me through my other 2 dogs deaths, my father’s death, and my good friend’s suicide. He, along with my family, has been my rock through the last few years. He is the most silly and sweetest dog that I’ve ever had.

I have decided to create some items that will be listed in “Tuggie’s Corner” and the proceeds from those items will be donated to the Ross County Humane Society. It’s the least I could do for them letting me adopt my best friend.
